12 Indigenous Members of Parliament (MPs) Elected or Re-Elected in 2025, on April 28th, 2025, as a result of the 45th General Election.

My final count for confirmed Indigenous candidates in the 2025 Election is 40, which is fewer than in previous elections. However, it resulted in the largest contingent of Indigenous candidates (First Nation, Métis, and Inuit), either newly elected or re-elected. There are 338 seats in the House of Commons. The 12 elected Indigenous MPs, which still only represent 3.6% of the total seats in the House of Commons, is the most Indigenous MPs ever elected at once in the past.
This article/analysis is a work in progress. We will continue to populate the social media links. Interestingly, we have found that most MPs have two to five channels. For example, most candidates have (X/Twitter) and Facebook. However, some also use Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. We will continue to look for their public pages and share them below their profile graphics. We have also included the electoral districts (ridings) from which the noted candidates were elected. Sharing the maps helps determine the communities in their ridings. Rural and northern ridings often have several First Nations communities, whereas in western Canadian cities, some electoral districts have multiple Indigenous populations within their boundaries.
